Galaxy Fold

If you would like to factory reset your Samsung because it is not working, running slow or being sold follow these steps. This is also known as refresh or hard reset.

Soft Reset (if you are able to unlock your phone)

  1. As this will delete all of the data on your phone, first make sure to back up anything you need on it.
    • You can use the Google Drive app to upload photos, documents and more to the cloud to save them.
  2. Plug your phone into charge if possible, ideally your phone’s battery should be well charged before continuing.
  3. Turn on your phone.
  4. Open the Settings app.
  5. Tap on the General Management section.
  6. Select Reset.
  7. Select Factory Data Reset.
  8. Finally, tap the Delete all button to complete the process.

Hard Reset (if you know the login details of a Google account on the device providing Android Device Protection is enabled – this is on by default though can be switched off in settings, and the phone is powered off – this will remove all data on the phone)

  1. If you are able to, back up all of the data on your phone – this will erase all of its data.
  2. Turn off your phone.
  3. Hold down the Volume Up button and Side Key (Power/Bixby button) for several seconds.
    • Depending on your version of Android, you may need to use the Volume Down button instead.
  4. Release all keys when an Android logo displays on screen.
    • If ‘No Command’ appears on screen, wait until a menu appears before proceeding.
  5. On the menu, use the Volume Up and Volume Down keys to scroll to the option Wipe data/factory reset.
    • Select this option using the Side Key.
  6. Use the same keys as before to select the Yes – delete all user data option in the next menu.
  7. Wait for the reset to complete.
  8. Select Reboot system now from the menu.
  9. Allow your phone to restart.
