If you would like to factory reset your Nokia because it is not working, running slow or being sold follow these steps. This is also known as refresh or hard reset.

Soft Reset

  1. Make sure any data you need is backed up by using Backup and Restore on your phone.
  2. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  3. Look for the Reset option within Settings.
    • Depending on the version of Android your phone runs this may be under Backup & reset within Advanced settings, System, or System & updates.
  4. Tap on Reset Phone.If you wish to keep your device’s data, then select this option when prompted.
  5. Enter the password to your phone if prompted.
  6. Allow your phone to restart, this may take a little longer than normal.
  7. If you wish to restore your backed-up data afterwards, this can be done by logging into your Google account after startup.

Hard Reset

  1. Turn off your phone.
  2. Plug your phone in to charge – this is necessary to complete the reset.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up button.
    • If a logo of a broken Android and the text ‘No Command’ appears, press the Power and Volume Up buttons.
  4. Release the buttons when a menu appears.
  5. Using the Volume buttons, scroll to Wipe data/factory reset in the list.
  6. Select this option with the Power button.
  7. Allow your phone to restart and complete the reset process.
