If you would like to factory reset your Huawei because it is not working, running slow or being sold follow these steps. This is also known as refresh or hard reset.

Soft Reset (if you can access your phone)

  1. Make sure any data you need is backed up by using Backup and Restore on your phone.
  2. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  3. Look for the Reset option within Settings.
    • Depending on the version of Android your phone runs this may be under Backup & reset within Advanced settings, System, or System & updates.
  4. Tap on Reset Phone.
    • If you wish to keep your device’s data, then select this option when prompted.
  5. Enter the password to your phone if prompted.
  6. Allow your phone to restart, this may take a little longer than normal.
  7. If you wish to restore your backed-up data afterwards, this can be done by logging into your Google account after startup.

Hard reset

  1. Start the device in recovery mode.
    • Press the Power button to turn off your phone.
    • Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons for several seconds.
    • Once you see an android on screen, press the Power button to enter recovery mode.
  2. Navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume buttons, and select it by pressing the Power button.
  3. Use the same buttons as before to select Yes – Delete All User Data.
  4. Wait until this process completes.
  5. Navigate and select the Reboot System Now option in the menu.
  6. Allow your phone to restart, this may take a little longer than normal.
  7. If you wish to restore your backed-up data afterwards, this can be done by logging into your Google account after startup.
